In my short 5 weeks as a mom, I've learned a thing or two... Here's just a few of my latest insights into the world of parenting.
Disclaimer: I'm writing this in the middle of the night, in a dark nursery, while feeding a hungry baby. There will be spelling & grammatical errors.
-Your life now consists of 2 hour blocks of time in which you must change the baby, feed the baby, play with the baby, calm the baby down, and put the baby to sleep, but never in that same order.
-It will now tale you 4 hours to watch a 2 hour movie.
-Anything can be made into a song. That being said, you are not a songwriter, only your baby & your spouse will appreciate your hidden musical talents.
-It doesn't matter where you go, but leaving the house is a big deal! Going somewhere without the baby is exciting and sad at the same time. Going somewhere with the baby is exciting and scary at the same time. It's easier to just stay home, but don't.
-You will regain (or just gain, if you never had it) an appreciation for all things you formerly deemed boring or undesirable, such as washing dishes, taking out the trash, cooking & cleaning. It's nice to do something "normal" from time to time.
-You never have, and you never will, love something or someone as much as you love your baby. You've also never worried more about one thing like you will worry about your baby.
-Sleep is precious & rare, take it when & where you can get it!
