Disney Day 3: Hollywood Studios

Day three started off with a good night's sleep, thankfully! The girls were so exhausted from Magic Kingdom last night they were both asleep literally within minutes of their heads laying on their pillows. Cams was up around 6:45 and Emmy woke around 7, but I think she would've slept longer if we weren't all in the same hotel room, making noise. Since Hollywood Studios didn't open until 9am today, we got to enjoy a slower morning & didn't have to be out the door as early as yesterday. Also, there's a water taxi from the dock right outside of our hotel to the park so it was an easy & quick ride over. The park entrance was pretty busy when we got there, but we realized an hour later it was really nothing compared to what was coming! It seems like a pain to get up early on your vacation, but it really makes SO much of a difference if you are at the Disney parks when they open. You can get a lot done in that first hour before the crowd that slept in arrives.

Hollywood studios is a lot smaller than Magic Kingdom or Epcot, and has mostly shows. So we decided to start with one of the only rides, Toy Story Mania, first. Now hind sight tells us we should have learned from yesterday that Cameron does not like rides... but we thought she might enjoy this one since its basically just a game; you sit in a car that brings you around to different screens, and you pull this ball on a "shooter" that's attached to your car to shoot at targets. Simple right? But it's in the dark. And it spins you kind of fast. And we were once again the worst parents for making her go on a ride she hated. So, no more rides for Cameron. Except maybe the carousel, she did like that one. But only if she asks. Honestly, her favorite thing so far might've been coloring at Merida's station!

After the ride we waited to meet Woody & Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story. But when we finally got up to meet them, they were a lot bigger than I think the girls expected, so they weren't interested in getting a picture with them. But we did get their autographs in their books!

After that we headed over to the Frozen sing along show, which was really cute. That was much more Cams' speed: sitting in a theater with her blankie, watching a show. After the show we waited to meet Olaf and the girls really liked him. Then it was pretty much lunch time, so we headed over to Hollywood & Vine, where we had a reservation to have lunch with the Disney Junior characters!

Hollywood & Vine the restaurant was just average, in my opinion. They had a lot of food, and a pretty good selection, and it was good, but not amazing. The characters seemed to be a little slower going around than the other character meals we've had so far, but it could've also been that the restaurant was much bigger than the others we've been in. The Disney Junior characters don't talk, so that makes the interactions a little harder, and our girls weren't too interested in taking pictures with the boy characters Jake (the pirate) and Handy Manny, but they were VERY excited to meet Sofia the First and Doc McStufins!! If I had to do it again, I might skip the reservation at H&V and just have the girls meet the characters they wanted to meet out in the parks. But it was still a nice time the way we did it.

After lunch we headed back to our hotel for a nap time, and Cameron actually took her first *real* nap of the trip (for 2 hours!)!! Emmy and I rested on the bed while Dan caught up on some work for a  bit, then we took a walk to the playground & dipped our toes in the pool.

We headed back to Hollywood Studios for the evening around 5, and finally got to meet the princess we've been waiting to meet; Moana!! I think I may have been as excited as the girls were!! Her meet & greet is randomly in the back of "One Man's Dream" in Hollywood Studios, it's not on the Disney app or advertised very much, but that meant we didn't have to wait too long to meet her! After that we headed to the amphitheater for Fantasmic, a lights & water show. The show was very cool, but it ws pretty loud & had a lot of villains in it which may have made Cams a little nervous at times. Again, worst parents ever for putting her though all this! But there were definitely parts she enjoyed, and Emmy absolutely LOVED it! She is at such a great age to be at Disney!! She loves the rides, meeting the characters, all the shows, and of course the treats! She is excited about every little thing here! Maybe our next trip back will be when Cams is 5... if I can wait that long!

Ok time to sign off for the night, Dan & I will be enjoying some sushi on our balcony as soon as he gets back, and I think we're all looking forward to not waking up early tomorrow! I'd say "sleeping in", but I'm not sure Cams will be doing much of that...
