Go Emmy Go!

Sorry for the lapse in posts, we've been very busy with Emmy, who is constantly on the go now! Let's see if I can catch you up on the last month...

Emmy took her first few steps on her own approximately 3 weeks ago!! And she just keeps getting stronger & more confident each day! Since she's gotten more confident on her feet, she's really enjoying pushing around her shopping cart!

Our little elf!

On the move with her shopping cart!

Earlier in the month, we took Emmy to pick out her first Christmas tree! Dan & I are big fans of driving over to Home Depot & picking up a tree they already cut down for us!! Maybe next year when Emmy understands Christmas a little better we'll take a field trip to cut down our own!

Picking out our first tree!

Checking out this new tree in our house!

Emmy was pretty observant with the new Christmas decorations we put up in the house, and the stockings that once were on the mantle, had to be relocated higher on the bookshelves :-)

Emmy's favorite decorations seem to be the bell ornament on the tree, and the Santa Bears!

Speaking of Santa... two weekends ago we took Emmy for her first visit to see Santa! So at Somerset Mall, you go to the booth to get your "reservation" time with Santa... So Emmy had spent the night at Grandma & Grandpa Smith's house while we went to a wedding, so before she came back that Sunday morning, Dan & I went up to the mall to get our "reservation" time. So for arriving at 9am, we got a 2pm reservation!! So we ran some errands, got some Christmas shopping done, then when Grandma & Grandpa brought Emmy back, we all headed up to see Santa! Emmy did great waiting in line, but not so great once she saw him...

Waiting for her turn

Checking out Santa's castle with papa

Not happy.

Ok... doing a little better now...
Our little family <3

Emmy is still doing great overall at daycare! She really enjoys being with all the kids and loves the staff too. She's been a little funky with her naps here & there, but for the most part she's a very routine & scheduled little girl! I'm so grateful we found such a wonderful place for her to be at during the day while I'm at work. It's really more of a family than a daycare!!

This is what happens when you don't take a nap at daycare...
you fall asleep in the car on the way home!

Emmy is eating more & more "finger" or "real" food now. She really enjoys feeding herself, and her current favorite is cheese!! She even tries to say it, but she can only get out "chhhhh", which is still exciting! She's had chicken & turkey, black beans, cooked veggies, noodles, toast, some crackers, soft fruits, cheerios and of course puffs! She's been using her straw cup for awhile now, and I recently started her on a "natural flow" sippy cup, which mimics the way she would drink from an open cup, but prevents her from spilling it all over! So far she's doing well with it!

Double-fisting her water cups!

Emmy is very chatty, and will attempt to imitate a lot of words. In addition to the five words I reported last (hi, daddy/dada, mama, nana (no), and baba (bottle)), she now also says "uh-uh" for uh-oh,  "papa" for her grandpas, she will imitate "pa" for puffs "chhh" for cheese, "uh" for up, and if you ask her what Santa says she tells you "ha ha ha" :-)
