9 weeks!
If you know my dad well, you've probably heard him say that before! Nine is a favorite number in the Smith family (Gordie Howe's hockey number, my brothers baseball & hockey number, my soccer number) and week nine with Emmy is a favorite too! She had her 2 month Dr appt on Tuesday, and she weighed in at 11lbs 5oz! She's in the 50th percentile for her height & weight, and in the 75th percentile for her head! She's got a big brain growing in there! This was the first Dr visit that I went to by myself with Em.j & it went well! She didnt have any blowouts, and she actually fell asleep at the end so when they poked her for her vaccination she didn't cry as much as last time! She's also got a little more meat on those legs which might've helped pad the poke! She was pretty fussy for the rest of the day after getting some vaccinations, and did a lot of sleeping! She even slept for 6 hours straight in her crib last night, which is a first!
Checking out my new mobile
We just started the transition of Emmy sleeping in her crib at night at the end of last week. The first few nights were pretty rough; she had been sleeping for stretches of 3-6 hours at a time when she was in our room, but she only slept for 1-3 hour stretches her first few nights in the crib. However each night seems to get better, and I'm really hopeful after last nights big sleep! I bought a mobile for her crib this week, and I'm hoping that will help her sleep in the crib as well! I also had to buy a bigger size swaddle sleep sack for her, someone's getting big!!

Out to eat at the brewery!
Last week was a fun & busy week for us. Last Wednesday the weather was so beautiful Dan left work early & decided he wanted to take his girls out! So we went to the Royal Oak Brewery & sat on their patio for dinner, which was Emmys first time out at a restaurant! She did really well; she had her bottle to eat & even took a snooze so mom & dad could eat their dinner too! After dinner we walked into downtown royal oak to get some dessert, and were reminded why we love living here so much!

Emmy loves to read!
We had a few visitors last week; my friend Sandra & her adorable son Rhodes were in town from Texas & we were so happy they were able to stop by! My friend Kerry also came to visit, bringing with her lunch for mommy & lots of presents for Emmy, including her new favorite book!

Brooke & Emmy are twins!
Friday night we went out to eat again, this time with Lisa, Zack & Brooke! Brooke & Emmy coordinated their outfits, and looked super cute & festive for st pattys day! Saturday we took Emmy to visit gramps (goerlich) at his new office, which is really close to our house! Gramps had a great time giving us a tour & introducing Emmy to all his coworkers! We ran a few errands after, and at night we headed out to have dinner at dans coworkers house. There were two other couples there, one with a baby 1 month older than Em.j, and one with a baby 2 weeks younger! It was fun to have the babies all together, even though they had no idea each other were there! We had a great time talking with everyone & sharing out stories. Things ways seem better when you know someone else is or has gone through them too!
Emmy & Harris meet!
Sunday we made it to church again, just a little bit late. Thankfully half of our congregation arrives late, so we didn't stick out, its really the perfect church for us! We sat in the "smile room" again, and emmy was pretty good, so we think we might try sitting out in the congregation next week, in the very back of course, in case we nerd to take a break! After church we had some relaxing time, then we headed out to New Baltimore to celebrate mom/grandma goerlichs birthday! I felt bad bc we stayed just a bit too long, and emmy got really fussy. However she definitely made up for it right before we left when she told everyone "yeah..." ;-)
Emmy really knows how to work a crowd!
Overall life is feeling mostly back to normal for Dan & I. We feel like were getting somewhat of a normal routine going again, and we've even cooked dinner a few nights! Only with both of us home though! It's nice being able to take Emmy out & around our family & friends, but its also hard, particularly when everyone wants to see & hold her, but she needs to eat or sleep, or is just overstimulated by it all. We may have been a little selfish this past weekend & tried to do too much with her. We want to keep doing all (or most) of the things we did pre-emmy, we just may need to do them in moderation now! Dan & I have quickly learned that em.j runs the show, and when she's had enough, its time for us to go! In the future we'll listen better! :-)

She is soooo cute and I love all her little clothes and bows!! Love your blog Heather! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great week! It also sounds like you handled the shots better than I did; I was a wreck. :) Emmy is getting so big and if possible even more adorable. I can't wait to meet her.
