6 months old!
I can't believe our little Lou-bug is already 6 months old!! But what is even more unbelievable is that I'm actually drafting this blog post (2 days) before she actually turns 6 months old!! We'll see when it actually gets posted...
6 month well visit!
Cameron Loretta Goerlich, 6 months old
Stats: 17lb 11oz, and 27.5" long
Nicknames: Bug, Cam, Cammy, Lou-bug, Cams
Cammy at 6 months old is a lot of fun!! She's a really happy girl, and she loves everything, well almost everything! Here's some of her favorite things at 6 months:
Favorite Food: Breastmilk! Cammy is still exclusively breastfeeding, and it's going well. I think my part-time work schedule has helped us to last longer. When I went back to work full-time with Emmy pumping was a challenge, and I wasn't bringing home as much as she was eating, so we switched to formula during the day. But so far so good with Cameron! We did try giving Cam some cereal and bananas a few weeks ago, but she wasn't too interested in them so we're taking a few weeks off before we try again. Although I must say she does enjoy biting on her spoons!
Favorite Toys: Anything she can bite or chew on! She also enjoys toys that light up or make noise/play music. Shes a big fan of her activity jumper, and is actually starting to jump in it a little bit! We also recently tried her in the "johnny jumper" that clips in a doorway, and she was good with it for about 5-10 minutes. But she was tired & fussy so that might not have been the best time to try it out. Cameron is getting pretty good with her hands, and really good at grabbing things! Specifically, she loves to grab faces, hair and our cups! And everything she grabs goes right in her mouth! But as I tell Emmy, that's how she learns!
Best Friends <3
Favorite Person: Emmy! And Emmy loves Cameron! It's very sweet to watch them together, even in the moments you think Emmy is too in her face, or laying on top of her, or taking her toy away, Cameron is still laughing & smiling at her! Cameron actually loves everyone, including her daycare providers and friends. She's finally adjusted to being at daycare, and is sleeping & eating good for them. She even seems excited when I drop her off there, but she's still even more excited when I pick her up to go home!
Dislikes: Cameron does NOT like having her nose wiped. At all. She also doesn't like that she can't move around on her own yet. She is really getting around on her blanket, rolling and inchworming all around, but you can tell she gets frustrated that she can't get to what or where she wants when by herself.
Skills & Talents:
Vocalizing/Talking: Cameron is a chatty girl, just like her big sister! She's becoming more vocal by the day, and it's a lot of fun to hear! We're not hearing any consistent consonant sounds yet, but you can tell she thinks she's telling us something when she vocalizes. She's really paying attention to our mouths when we talk to her, especially when we repeat sounds or words over & over to her.
Sitting up! Cameron can keep herself sitting upright now! She still tips over from time to time, but she's starting to catch herself with her arms instead of just face-planting every time. She can't put herself in a seated position yet, but she definitely enjoys sitting up! Sitting up has given her a new freedom to reach & grab for her toys and really anything else she can get her hands on!
Putting herself back to sleep! This is a relatively new skill that she hasn't fully grasped, but we're working hard with her on! We know she can do it... she just doesn't do it every time she wakes up. Her daytime naps have become pretty regular, and as long as she gets at least an hour for each nap she only takes two a day on the days we're home, and 3 on daycare days because she usually falls asleep on the drive home. She's typically in bed around 7-7:30, and her nighttime sleep schedule is still pretty inconsistent. The last week or so she's been waking up around 1 and 4 am... but she's just eating & going right back to sleep. If I go in to get her she wants to eat right away, but if Dan goes in to get her she lets him rock her back to sleep. We've been trying to put her back in her crib before she's fully asleep, to help her learn to fall asleep in there, but it's a slow process. I think we just need to buckle down & get tough with her! This sleep deprivation thing is tough!
Cameron has been doing lots of fun things this month, the biggest one being our trip to Chicago! She also went to the zoo for her first zoo boo and had her first trip to an apple orchard! We're looking forward to celebrating her first Halloween at the end of the month. Our little Lou-bug is going to be a ladybug!
