The Goerlich Five.: First Family Vacation!

It's been a couple weeks, but I wanted to post about our first vacation as a family of 3! We spent the first Week of July in Traverse City with my mom & dad, and my brother & sister-in-law! :-) Despite the weather being H-O-T, we had a great time!! We rented a house on Lake Leelanau which worked out perfectly. The house had plenty of space for all of us (and all of Emmy's stuff!), it was clean, and it was right on the lake! The only downside was it did not have air conditioning. It was very nice to be able to eat "at home" for some of our meals instead of having to eat out every meal, which can get hard, especially with a baby! We had a great location, as we were outside of the busy-ness of downtown Traverse City, but we were still close enough to go downtown when we wanted to. We were also very close to many wineries, golf courses, and other small towns on the peninsula! We really enjoyed Fishtown in Leland, as well as Sutton's bay! We did spend some time on Old Mission Peninsula as well, at the Jolly Pumpkin (of course!) and at Chateau Chantal Winery. However we probably spent the majority of our time just sitting outside, relaxing in the sun or the shade, on the deck at our lake house. We had a beautiful view, and although it wasn't "beach front" property, we could take a dip in the lake via a dock anytime we wanted!

Emmy was a great traveler both ways! We timed it well, so she had her big nap (2 hours) of the day in the car ride, which made for smooth & quick travel! She had a couple rough nights of sleep while we were there, but that's pretty much been the norm for us at home too. Despite the heat she did well, although she barely wore any of the clothes I packed for her (she had her own suitcase!), and spent the week in either a diaper or her bathing suit!
